2:30 PM -- MIKAELLA AIMEE CARTRIGHT

Born to Haitian ministers, Mikaelle was introduced to music very early on. Besides music at church, there was constant exposure to Classical music, Jazz, and Instrumental versions of Popular music in the home. Throughout the years, Mikaelle naturally pursued music, singing in every church and school choir available. She picked up the guitar at 16, and began writing music at 18. After earning a degree in International Affairs from Florida State University, she returned home to Haiti to build, what she hoped would be, a life dedicated to helping others. But soon, she began singing background vocals and performing as a side gig. Music was in her heart and soul; she could not escape it.

After surviving the 2010 Earthquake that shook Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, Mikaelle received her spiritual call to exit the regular work force and pursue a life of service using her God-given talents. She did this, and has since performed on almost every stage PaP has to offer. She even spent two years hosting an entertainment show on Haiti's second largest television station. She believes that she is being groomed to become a leader and role model in Haitian society and around the world.

Although she is well-loved and respected in Haiti, Mikaelle moved to the US in 2014 to further pursue her Life Purpose and has been in the Tri-State area preparing herself for what lies ahead. An album is currently in the works and plans are being laid for a major European Tour.

6:10 PM -- 7:10 PM -- THE BAYLOR PROJECT

Marcus Baylor and Jean Baylor from the group Zhane

A husband. A wife. An astonishing debut. Marcus and Jean Baylor’s highly anticipated collaboration is steeped in the heart and soul of Jazz. As the children of Pastors, Marcus and Jean's musical roots were planted deep within the church, and it was there that the road was paved for the influence of gospel, blues, soul, and jazz to make it’s mark. As you listen to “The Baylor Project,” you will be taken on an eclectic musical journey that showcases as much versatility as it does virtuosity.

Marcus, a St. Louis native, is widely recognized as the former member and drummer of the 3-time Grammy Award winning jazz quartet, the Yellowjackets. While studying and graduating from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, he performed and recorded with musical icons Cassandra Wilson and Kenny Garrett. Since then, Marcus has come into his own as a composer, arranger, producer and bandleader. With his natural feel, creative use of space and innovative ability to tell a story, his musicianship and improvisation are those of a seasoned musician.

Jean, a “Jersey Girl”, was introduced to jazz in college as a Vocal Performance Major at Temple University, where she was heavily influenced by artists such as Carmen McCrae, Jimmy Scott, and Shirley Horn. In addition to continued development of her craft, Jean has expanded into composing, arranging, producing, and band leading. She has been a featured guest artist in performances and recordings with The Yellowjackets, Kenny Garrett, Marcus Miller and legendary bassist, Buster Williams. Well-equipped with an agile mezzo-soprano range, Jean combines a fresh, whimsical approach to phrasing with clever improvisation resulting in singing of such vocal purity that she embraces the soul.

At last, these two are together on stage! At last, their innovation and talent are intimately entwined! Their combined musicianship is unmatched. Their dynamic performances are soulful to the bone. The Baylors will raise you up and inspire you to clap along with them, as they entice your ears with a swinging mid-tempo tune. Yet, at a moments’ notice, you may be moved to tears when they change the atmosphere with a spiritual song intended to stir the emotions. They perform original compositions and new arrangements of classic pieces. They utilize sincerity and maturity far beyond their years to deliver ballads with storied grace and elegance, and grit. And what’s more is that Marcus and Jean have the uncanny ability to bridge the gap between generations. They are relatable, they are virtuosic, and for these reasons they captivate packed houses and sold out audiences.

"The Baylor Project" pays homage to their wide ranging musical influences, and in so doing, they generate an eclectic sound whose overall effect is spiritual, buoyant, and feel good music.

8:10 PM -- MR. EASY & THE GLOBAL VIBES BAND

MR. EASY

Born Ian Dyer, Mr. Easy immigrated with his family from Jamaica to Flatbush in Brooklyn, where he completed his education. Inspired by Dennis Brown, Dyer practiced singing along to his idol's recordings (he has also acknowledged the influence of Beres Hammond). His easygoing vocals impressed the New York-based producer Barry Dread, who took him to the recording studio. Following his experience in studio work, Mr. Easy auditioned for the famous Showtime at the Apollo. This was quite a challenge, as the Harlem audience members can be demanding in their critical approach to aspiring artists. The young vocalist survived the ordeal, winning approval from the masses. He also earned the distinction of being the first reggae singer to perform at the televised show. A notable viewer was the producer Quincy Jones, who was inspired to sign Mr. Easy for a recording contract. Signed to Jones' Qwest label, he released his debut in 1994, the well-received album Call Me Mr. Easy.

By 1995, his career was firmly established. It was at this time that Mr. Easy's manager approached Dave "Rude Boy" Kelly to produce the singer in sessions alongside the Mad House crew. This recording arrangement produced material for a projected second album. The singer also formed an allegiance with Sting International where he performed alongside Shaggy, Rayvon, and Bajja Jedd. The Sting crew toured the U.K., Japan, and the Caribbean, where they were greeted with high acclaim. On his return, Mr. Easy was recruited alongside Wayne Wonder, Frisco Kid, Spragga Benz, Alley Cat, Baby Cham, and Textra to perform as part of Kelly's Mad House crew. Since Mr. Easy's initial association with Kelly the clique had become known as Alias. The non-hierarchical group toured the U.S., where the singer enjoyed further accolades. Backed by the Kaushan Band, the artists performed as soloists and in combination while also rejecting the notion of a headline act. Notable hits with Alias included a version of the popular "Bruk Out" rhythm, "Murder," while on the "Joy Ride" rhythm Mr. Easy recorded "Funny Man" in combination with Baby Cham. The singer maintained his profile with "Rain Again," the most popular tune on the "Showtime" rhythm. In 1998, Mr. Easy embarked on sessions with Beres Hammond through the singer's Harmony House production team. In 1999 he teamed up with Hammond's nephew, Yogie, on the traditional-sounding reggae groove "You Got to Be Strong."
