-He could cause or prevent storms at sea

-If the people prayed to him, he would sometimes give them a safe voyage across sea. They would then pay him back by dedicating a valuable object to him.

-Neptune is one of the only three Roman gods to whom it was appropriate to sacrifice bull

-He married the sea nymph Amphitrite and they had a son that was half man and half fish.
