Native American Mascots By: Asma Haji

I do not think teams and schools should be allowed to use Native American as Mascots.

I don't think Native Americans should be used as Mascots because they were once judged and stereotyped. As stated in the text," They say it's offensive, even racist." This supports my claim because it was stated that making Native American Mascots is really just stereotyping. In the past, Native Americans were described animals and mascots are animals.

Why should Native Americans be used as mascots, when it's insulting them. According to the passage," Many Native Americans are upset by the redskin nickname." This quote sustains my claim because it reveals that calling the Natives Mascots redskins based on their skin color is making Native Amerians undervalued.
