PEORIA UNIFIED COMMUNITY CONNECTION Enhancing a culture of active engagement that encourages and strengthens parent & community partnerships

In this new school year, we'll place an emphasis on direct communications with parents, staff, and the community we serve. We believe that the more we show, the more you'll know.

There are four Strategic Areas that guide us. Throughout the school year we will share more about these goals and hope you will join the conversation.

CONNECT WITH US: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FORUM

As part pf per community connection, Peoria Unified is hosting a Community Engagement Forum to share high-level district updates and our Strategic Plan to help ensure your student’s success. Parent and community feedback is valuable to us and we would love your input! We value your time so you can attend in person or participate online and see how Peoria Unified has narrowed its focus on areas surrounding student success, safety, and being fiscally responsible.

BOARD THE BUS: FALL FIELD TRIP

On Wednesday, October 24th from 8:00 AM to 1:45 PM, join us and board a yellow bus to visit several of our elementary and high schools for a first hand look at what really happens in a 21st Century classroom. Enjoy a light breakfast and delicious lunch prepared by Culinary Arts students. Reserve your spot by emailing rsvp@pusd11.net.

VOLUNTEER IN PEORIA SCHOOLS

We sincerely believe the involvement of volunteers is a major factor in the success of our students. We need and value talented volunteers who are genuinely concerned with the quality of education of our young people.

The services of volunteers are utilized in schools and district offices to accomplish the following objectives:

  • to relieve teachers and support personnel of some non-instructional tasks
  • to provide teachers with more time to work with students
  • to enrich the curriculum and children's learning opportunities
  • to provide individual attention to those children who need more one-on-one assistance than the classroom teacher is able to provide
  • to promote a school-home-community partnership for quality education

Who Can Volunteer?

Everyone who cares about children and education is a potential volunteer. Prior teaching experience is not necessary. Volunteers include seniors, community members, college students, parents and grandparents.

Join our Volunteers in Peoria (VIP) program to provide classroom help, front office support, library, cafeteria assistance & more!

Get started by visiting our Volunteer website or by calling or visiting your local campus.

INTERESTED IN SERVING ON A DISTRICT COMMITTEE?

We value your input! Committees include Budget Committee, Curriculum Committee, and more! Those interested in serving on a Governing Board Advisory Committee should complete a Committee Interest Form and return it to us at pusdpr@pusd11.net.
