Gun Control in America By: Makayla Kirwan

There should be no gun control in America because it is our constitutional right to bear arms, mass shootings and homicides will not cease, and civilians would be vulnerable without protection.

“The first serious gun control legislation was enacted on the heels of the gang violence associated with prohibition” (Carter). This is actually quite interesting because, this illustrates that no matter what day in age we may be in, there will always be bad people who get ahold of guns and use them to commit crimes.

America does not have a gun problem, America has a people problem. Therefore it is not the guns killing people, but people killing people.

“Gun ownership does not correlate with increased violence. For example, the rate of gun ownership is higher in rural areas than in urban areas, but the murder rate is higher in urban areas”

It Is also our constitutional right to own and bear firearms.

If we the people of the United States gave up our Constitutional right, who is to say the government will not stop taking away our other rights? It starts here, we cannot back down now, or we may face the downfall of America.
