What are Metaphors? By Felicity Edmondson and Charlotte Ryan

What is a Metaphor?

A metaphor is a figure of speech such as; 'I jumped so high I felt like I touched the sky.'

Songs and their messages:

Firework:

The song Firework by Katy Perry, tells everyone should embrace themselves of how beautiful and unique they can be- "Let your colours shine."

Waterfalls:

The song waterfalls refers to how people go chasing the things that they think are the greatest thing in the world, but really is the dangerous path to take in life.

Titanium:

The metaphor is that we are all titanium, meaning we are strong in our own ways (sometimes the only person you can trust is yourself).

Bible Passages:

Proverbs 13:14 'The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life': Meaning life is basically like a fountain- it just continues.

Isaiah 64:8 But now, O Lord, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand: Humans are the clay and he (God/Father) is our creator.

Psalms 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want: God is a shepherd and he takes care of us. That we shall not disobey his rules.

Our Poem:

A shield is protection. God has a whole collection. A shield is security. God is fully purity. A shield is secure cover. Above us our God does hover. A shield is reinforcement. God need no endorsement. God is our shield
