Jewish Holocaust Refelction priscilla rodriguez

a. My initial understanding of the Holocaust is not to different from my understanding now. I went to a Jewish school growing up so I learned about the Holocaust very early in life.

This project pushed me to investigate about the questions I asked because even though I have knowlege on the subject theres still unanswered questions I had.

My question is did anyone escape from the actual concentration camps ?

Rebellions were organised by Jewish prisoners at three of the six extermination camps - Treblinka, Sobibor and Auschwitz-Birkenau. Some of them were succesful.

Sobibor

There were several escape attempts from Sobibor, some of which were successful. However, the Nazis executed many prisoners as punishment and as a warning to others. After the uprising, the Nazis destroyed Sobibor. The whole area was ploughed, planted with crops and given to a Ukrainian guard.

Treblinka

There were several attempts to escape en route to Treblinka. Most failed. There were also attempts to escape the camp itself. One such attempt was planned as the Germans prepared to liquidate the camp. The SS and their Ukrainian collaborators suppressed the uprising and killed most of the 750 Jews who had attempted to escape.

Auschwitz-Birkenau

IThere are examples of Jews escaping from the crematoria and gas chambers. One such incident involved men, women and children who had been transported from Hungary. On the night of 25/26 May 1944, they escaped and hid in the woods and in ditches. The SS tracked them down and killed them.

Miep Gies, was one of the Dutch citizens who hid Anne Frank, her family and four other Jews from the Nazis in an annex above Anne's father's business premises during World War II. She kept Ann's diary and gave it to her father when he got out.

Gies authored the book Anne Frank Remembered: The Story of the Woman Who Helped to Hide the Frank Family.

I chose Gies because she showed courage by risking her own life to protect her friend as well as protecting Ann's Diary which would later on influence so many people to be more aware about the Holocaust.

ISIS: The world's newest holocaustJews wore the Star of David under Nazism now Iraqi Christians are marked by the Stamp of ISIS.

Christians are being driven out of their homes and brought to death by the sword if they do not bow to ISIS' Islamic god Allah. Christians are being systematically wiped from the face of the ancient Arab world, which edges the Holy Land. Their places of worship are being decimated and holy sites are destroyed similar to the Jewish holocaust. Natzis destroyed jewish stores and places of worship as well as executed them.
