Congratulations to Lee Middle School 8th grader, Franchesca Untalan, on successfully auditioning for a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall!

Back in November, Franchesca entered the Middle School Honors Performance Series audition circuit open to students from around the United States. It was an arduous process that required much practice time to get the perfect recording of her audition repertoire ready for such a high stakes competition. Franchesca received news of her acceptance during Spring Break.

The Middle School Honor Orchestra will be rehearsing every day and perform from June 19-22 with renowned composer/conductor Kirt Mosier in New York. This is a very exciting opportunity to meet an orchestra composer whose works are performed by countless middle schools and high schools across the world!

Next year, as Franchesca will become a freshman at Central High School, she plans to audition for the All Region Orchestra (a composite orchestra filled with the best orchestral musicians in UIL Region 6) and in the future, audition for the Texas Music Educators Association All State Orchestras.

Franchesca plays the violin in the Lee Middle School Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Gabriel Balderrama.

Congratulations to Franchesca on this prestigious honor. The faculty and students at Lee Middle School wishes her safe travels and good luck on her burgeoning performance career!
