It’s the final countdown! Our second to last race weekend has come to a close and we are eager to see the final results. This month our drivers took on the Andretti (C) 4.0-mile course as both sunny and stormy skies rolled in! We had 13 Prototype and 12 Sports Car drivers racing to the top this weekend, ready to rack up those points and get one step closer to claiming their championship titles.
The calm before the storm, literally, as clouds and wind speeds rolled in for Friday’s races, leaving us with chilly weather to kick off our weekend competition. Although the weather was a bit wild, our races were relatively laxed with plenty of clean starts and good ole “for-the-fun” racing. The friendly competition didn’t just end there though! Back by popular demand, our members enjoyed continuing the battle into Friday evening with a cornhole tournament! Congrats to Mark Rohrwasser and his nephew, Justin Rohrwasser, for being crowned our cornhole champs! It was a blast seeing everyone enjoy each other’s company once again with a fan favorite event!
By Saturday, the sunny skies reappeared, shining upon our member’s vehicles for our remaining races and our Prototype and Sports Car podiums. The head-to-head battle continues and we are down to mere points separating our positions! This isn’t any more evident than in our back-and-forth battle between Mitch Bishop and Tony Bullock! Next month will truly determine our P3 winner! Marshall Kerr and Darin Harvey’s fastest laps for our Prototype Rookie class have also been in a constant back-and-forth battle every weekend!! The excitement surrounding our race series this year has been astounding and we are eager for more!
Shoutout to the ladies this season for making a rise in our ranks with the guys as well – we love seeing you compete and can’t wait to see more of you on track next season! Karen Wonnenberg achieved 1st place for the first time in Saturday’s race for GT4! A big weekend for the Wonnenbergs, as their son Michael Wonnenberg not only raced for the first time with us and secured 2nd place on podium, but he also set a track record, beating his father, Randy Wonnenberg’s, 2017 record. This was also Dylan Northern’s first time racing with us. Way to go everyone!
