Hello World Tech & Youth Services

Just a quick edition this week.

G.O.A.T.S 2018 Edition

Mitali Perkins gave a moving presentation on Race, Culture, and Power in YA Books

We had over 50 Teen Librarians meeting up at the East Greenbush Community Library for the first meeting of the GOATS (Greatest Of All Teen Services). It was a fun-filled day of energizing ideas, problem hacks, and go-to colleagues from NY, NJ, CT, and MA.

This teen service focused meetup gave attendees the opportunity to attend discussion sessions on: Teen Summer Reading Programs, Building a Teen Advisory Group, Teen Spaces, Tech Programs, Teen Behavior, Staying Motivated, Teen Programs, Outreach, and Marketing.

That wasn't all. There was a live goat cam, goat trivia, and attendees could also decorate their own goat cookies. One of the highlights of the day was a live video call in from YA author Mitali Perkins in California on Race, Culture, and the Power of YA books.

Before departing the meetup we had attendees write on a post-it note one of their top takeaways from the day. Here is a list of some of their thoughts.
