Keynote address by Google

Immersion 2019 took off with the Key note address by Google India AR/VR Head, Chaitanya Chunduri on the first day. The conference spread over March 1-2 at Nehru Centre, Mumbai. The second day's Key note address was presented by Nathan Gaydhani, SystemActive Digital, London. Immersion 2019 was powered by Dell & supported by a host of other brands with speakers or interaction stalls like Code Nuron, Kalpnik VR, Allegorithmic, KiksAR, Jio, Famous Studios and more were present.

Immersion brought together industry leaders, futurists, creators, enterprise, start-ups, change agents and technology advocates across speaker forums, workshops, brand showcases and of course the film festival. With a cumulative footfall of nearly 1000 people and industry heavyweights, the first edition of Immersion was a resounding success.

Immersion brings together 3 key chapters and stakeholders that we believe define the immersive technology ecosystem (1) consumers and content (2) change agents that include futurists, leading voices and exciting start-ups in the space (3) venture fund players in an interesting format. The first year had three experiential zones for delegates - Change-makers, The Arena and VR Insiders.

CHANGEMAKERS

VR & AR are increasingly being used to reimagine and reinvent customer experience journeys and business solutions in the field of health care & medicine, entertainment & media, education, tourism, social change and more.

Immersion intends to be a strong pulpit through which changemakers and visionaries will evangelise adoption.

Speakers and futurists from UK, US and different cities across India had come down to share their experiences and knowledge with industry leads, campuses and professionals.

VR Insiders

Immersion hosted workshops by practitioners of Immersive technology. Targeted at smaller focused groups, this interactive format included workshops ranging from building a basic AR App to introductory courses on Cinematic VR.

VR Arena

The Arena at Immersion presented India's first international VR Film Festival with curated VR movies from across the world. These were showcased on head-mounted VR devices. The Arena also featured brand pods where leading brands, start ups, VR hardware innovators, content & platform players who showcased their products and wares. This was an exciting experiential space to not only engage with but also demonstrate the power of XR and immersive technology to enterprise leaders, consumers and enthusiasts.

VR for change

The impact of VR promises to be a domino. It has played a huge role in social change and empathy. Be it the ground breaking project by PETA using VR films to make audiences empathize with a chicken and its life (I Chicken) or a whale (I Orca) or The Clouds of Sidra which helped boost the UN’s efforts to raise more money, awareness and empathy during the Syrian refugee crisis, immersive experiences pack a wallop.

At Immersion we had created a section dedicated to VR for Change and enabled people to view curated ground-breaking content inspiring the world on issues and causes.
