Yarns from the Tarns ~ Comox District Mountaineering Club

WElcome to"Yarns from the Tarns"

Summer 2018 Edition

In previous years, "Yarns from the Tarns" was a newsletter maintained by past member (Carol H.) and sent to club members by email every four months. Photos, poems, anecdotes, and information were shared, with club members submitting items to be shared with fellow members. We'd like to re-start that tradition with a seasonal rendition of Yarns from the Tarns.

Recent Trip Reports

We've had some great hikes recently - both day hikes and multi-day trips. Thank you! to our trip leaders for volunteering to share these trips with us.

Some recent trip photos & reports at the links below.

CDMC & BC PARKS - Trail Work

Over the past 90 years, CDMC members have built a legacy within the forbidden plateau area of Strathcona Park, starting with building trails and signage, and to this day continuing on that legacy with trail maintenance within the park.

CDMC work parties of 2 to 12 people have been working in conjunction with BC Parks to maintain, upgrade, and rebuild trails within the Forbidden Plateau area of Strathcona Park. Watch the CDMC Meetup Schedule for your opportunity to sign up and help maintain our trails!

Mt. Frink trail

“Hiking is a bit like life:

The journey only requires you to put one foot in front of the other…again and again and again.

And if you allow yourself the opportunity to be present throughout the entirety of the trek,

you will witness beauty every step of the way, not just at the summit”
