Flamingo By ANna KLingerman

-Flamingos are monogamous birds that lay only one egg a year and if that one egg is lost of damaged it usually will not be replaced

-The pink, orange or red color of a flamingo's feathers is caused by carotenoid pigments in their food. If the food lacks that carotenoid they seem more of a grayish color

-Flamingos have a wild lifespan of 20-30 years but records show that flamingos in captivity have a life span of 50 years or longer

-Adult flamingos are about 4-5 ft tall but only weight between four to eight pounds
