Saluki Track and Field at the 2017 MVC Indoor Championships

The No. 23 Southern Illinois men's track and field team finished second at the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Sunday.
Kyle Landon set or tied his lifetime-best in all three jumps to earn both the MVC Most Outstanding Male Field Athlete and the co-Most Valuable Athlete of the meet honors.
Landon won his 7th MVC high jump title and became just the 2nd male jumper in Valley history to win four-straight indoor high jump titles, and the first since 1984.
Jared Kern broke SIU alum John Smith's 34-year old meet record to win his first MVC shot put title.
Cara Engel became just the second Saluki woman to win a MVC pole vault title.
Katie Trupp joined Engel on the podium after she cleared 12'-7.25" (3.84m) to earn her second-straight runner-up finish at the MVC Indoor Championships.

Kezia Martin won her second triple jump title, and her first indoors, with a huge PR that was more than a foot better than her previous best.

Chad Weaver won his first MVC title, becoming the first Saluki male pole vaulter to win since Ryan Sidwell did so in 2013.
Isaac Ingram won his 1st MVC title in the weight throw Saturday.
Freya Block won the women's weight throw, securing her 1st MVC title.
Mystique Thompson broker her own school record in the 60m.
Ty Eason broke her own school record in the 200m and finished 3rd.
Warren Hazel finished 2nd in the 400m and 3rd in the 200m.
Austin Weigle set a PR in the high jump to earn his first All-MVC finish.
Final Count: 7 MVC Titles, 15 All-MVC Honors, 2 Meet Records, 2 School Records, MVP, Most Outstanding Athlete.
