Renewable Energy Q1 Sustainability Resource Guide

Adobe is committed to sustainably managing our business, creating workspaces that support our employees' health and wellness, and enabling our customers to be more sustainable through their use of our products. To further extend our commitment to living more sustainably, we offer programs that benefit our environment at work, at home, and in our communities.

You are critical to both implementing and sharing our corporate sustainability strategy and encouraging your colleagues to make sustainable choices outside of work. This sustainability resource guide outlines: Adobe's corporate renewable energy strategy, tips on how you can save energy at home, employee discounts on products that will help you live more sustainably, and how you can set up local engagement opportunities.

Adobe's Renewable Energy Strategy

Following the 2016 U.S. presidential election, Adobe is monitoring policy changes that could affect the renewable energy landscape. However, we remain committed to and optimistic about achieving our renewable energy goals.

Last year, Adobe joined RE100 and committed to the White House's American Business Act on Climate Pledge. This included an aggressive, long-term goal of powering our operations and digital delivery of our products entirely with 100 percent renewable electricity by 2035. This goal remains unchanged.

Adobe also supported the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Power Plan Amicus Brief and signed a letter asking the Virginia State Corporate Commission for "an explicit legal framework" to buy renewable energy from utilities or third-party sellers.

We will have to wait and see exactly what becomes of the Clean Power Plan. Regardless of the outcome of this policy, the cost of renewables continues to drop every quarter and once put in place, zero money is spent on resource extraction. Additionally, renewable portfolio standards, energy efficiency programs, and other emissions reduction goals and policies are determined at the state level. Many states are far enough down the path to a clean energy economy that they will not turn back.

Adobe's strategy reflects a portfolio approach, meaning that we need to investigate opportunities in each region or state where we do business. While the Clean Power Plan would be beneficial from a federal standpoint, we see continued opportunities for growth in specific states where Adobe operates.

Engagement Opportunities

Employees have many opportunities to celebrate Adobe's core value of involved. Use the resources below to plan an educational or volunteer opportunity at your site.

Meatless Mondays

Did you know that for every hamburger you skip, you can save enough energy to charge your iPhone for 4.5 years? If the world reduced meat consumption by just 15 percent, it would have the same impact on greenhouse gas emissions as taking 240 million cars off the road each year.

Meatless Monday is a global movement that addresses the prevalence of preventable illnesses associated with excessive meat consumption. In addition to preventing chronic disease, going meatless one day a week can help reduce our carbon footprint and save precious resources like fossil fuels and fresh water. Consider the impact you could have if employees at your site went meatless just one Monday a month. Use the resources provided by the global Meatless Monday campaign to raise awareness about this simple way that we can all have an impact.
