Chasing available funds is a dangerous game.
If you set out to grab funds for something you haven’t planned to do just because the fund is available you are unlikely to make a convincing bid and if funded may struggle to use the funds as the funder requires.
Credible plans are easily distinguished from those drawn on the back of an envelope.
Plan a fundraising strategy for each piece of work. Few funders will pay 100% and most will want an idea where the rest may come from. Plan how you will outreach to the people the funder is most interested in. Have the Policies to back up your plans – around protecting your volunteers, providing equality of opportunity, accepting or refusing donations etc. Plan how you will monitor and evaluate or you won’t be able to meet reporting requirements.
