Life Under The Poverty Line By: Cecilia Rodriguez

Have you ever passed through the street and notice a child or an old man asking for money? Have you ever wondered how extremely hard would be to live a life with so hard limits? That quality life is called poverty, and still 1.3 billion people live on it. Poverty is one of the biggest problems in the world. Poverty is not having enough money for education, food, nor clean water. Notice, that those are basic things that a human must have for survival. Therefore, it must be solved immediately. This article is a representation of some problems, causes, and solutions for this dreadful problem.

Poverty is a global problem damaging each and every continent. Nevertheless, Africa is the most affected continent. For example, every year more than one million people under 5 years old die from Malaria, due to their lack of money. In addition, poverty's effects are that more than one-third of Africa do not have access to clean water. Also, one.org states that “Africa uses less than 3% of the world's energy, despite having 12.5% of the world's population.” This shows that even though Africa covers a large part of the world's population, it uses a minimum amount of electricity because most people that live in Africa are poor. Lastly, the final problem of poverty is that people are undoubtedly not using their money correctly. The fact that people of America spend more money in Halloween than the whole world on Malaria in a year supports my thinking. The anterior were some of the main problems with poverty.

There are many thing causing poverty. For example, there are not enough jobs, so people are not working enough. That causes puberty in the United Kingdom. Also, the minimum wage is not enough and is pushing a lot of families under the poverty line. In addition, globalissues.org informs us that “Almost half of the world live on less than $2.50 a day.” As seen, that is a definitely low amount of money for a job. Those were the main causes of poverty.

Poverty is a difficult to end problem. Despite that fact, it is not impossible. For example, Actionaid International is a unique partnership of people who are fighting for a world without poverty. They suggest that: “Promoting sustainable agriculture and control natural resources for people living in poverty.” This will hopefully improve hunger problems and poverty. Americanprogress.org states that: “To get back to perecession employment levels, we must create 5.6 million new jobs.” This shows, that a lot of people are unemployed. Also, since the minimum wage is definitely not enough, it needs to increase so that poor families receive the enough money to have their needs. Lastly, another solution is to give equal salaries to man and woman since then they will be able to progress and escape poverty. In the other hand you probably observed that those are really difficult solutions. So, I figured a solution that I believe would help. An action that would help this problem as an individual is to stop giving money to the poor. I know, it sound bad, but think about it. If we continue if we continue giving poor people money, they will get used to receiving money by just stretching an arm. In the other hand, if we help them get a job or get to education, they can receive money, spend it, and gain it again by themselves. This were just some ways to end poverty.

This was my opinion about things I consider extremely important for people to know. I hope this article helped you reflect about about people around us and their extremely hard quality life. I hope that this article helped you realized that there are persons with different life circumstances. I hope that it helped you think about a change. Lastly, I hope that this article help you understand poverty’s problem, causes, and solution.
