Come Home By one republic
This song relates to "Catcher In The Rye" holden explains "I couldn't think of anybody to call up. My brother D.B. was in Hollywood." (59). At this point holden seemed desperate to get a phone call with one of his siblings that shows he miss. Throughout the song it relates how missing a specific someone can be sad and I believe holden is sad or desperate. And One republic relates this to holden by explaing "There's someone I've been missing".
empire state of mind by jay-z ft Alicia keys
Empire state of mind by Jay-z ft Alicia Keys relate to the setting of the story. Holden goes to "new york" (20) to discover the feeling being in an adult society to differ what its like building a future. I think this song goes perfect, again as I explained that Holden goes to new york to explain the differences and creating a future. In the song jay-z writes how in New York "These streets will make you feel brand new" as starting fresh creating an "inspiring" future.
High hopes by kodaline
This song relates to holden's expectation of his future as he explains " Oh, I fee some concern for my future, all right. Sure. Sure I do." (14). This song can relate to feeling concerned or confused about reality or the future. And that is why I chose this song and Kodaline explains it perfect to relate to Rye "And in my dreams, I meet the ghosts of all the people who have come and gone". Other thing about holden is that he is lonely he sounds like a boy with no family that gives him attention and Kodaline relates to Holden's emotions.
Here We go mat kearny
This song relates to the part when Holden have his cycles when he's fusterated, mad, annoyed, and fed up. in reality we have those moments that its like a cycle everyday. Holden explain in catcher in the rye "Did you ever get fed up?... I mean did you ever get scared that everything was going to go lousy unless you did something.." (130). Throughout the song it repaeats "here we go again" of a going around a cycle of a situation.
demon by imagine dragons
This songs relates at the end of chapter 3 when holden explains how terrible calling out "good luck!" (16). I believe Holden didn't like it when people tells you good luck because it can always mean the opposite or make someone nervous. But this would be understandable because holden is all by himself in new york with no thought of plan. And the reason why I believe this song relates to holden because he "wants to hide the truth" about his future. Which isn't a good thing. Holden is a confused boy, but really we don't know if he haves an education but reading the book and knowing holden's character. Holden haves no clue the challenges of life. instead he's trying to avoid the truth.
