Kiss GSD Goodbye

In September 2015, Everly Fogarty, an athlete at World Elite was hospitalized and subsequently clinically diagnosed with Glycogen Storage Disease suspected type 6. Since beginning treatments, Everly has grown from the 15th percentile to the 75th, has returned to normal liver size through a controlled diet (Everly eats LESS THAN 30 GRAMS OF SUGAR everyday!), and has sustained metabolic control. She checks her blood sugar and blood ketone levels several times a week, and requires a dose of 15 grams of protein 3 times daily between meals and at bedtime.

Glycogen Storage Disease (GSD) is a rare disorder that affects approximately 1 in 100,000 people. There are over 13 different kinds of GSD that inhibit the body from using stored energy known as glycogen. People with Glycogen Storage Disease lack the enzymes required to store or release glycogen from the liver during periods of fasting. Without proper diagnosis and care, patients suffer from hypoglycemia (critically low blood sugar), seizures, stunted growth and failure to thrive. Until recently, this disease was considered fatal.

This week is “GSD Awareness Week” (October 1-7). HELP the Fogarty Family spread awareness by participating in our week long “Kiss GSD Goodbye Campaign”! All week, there will be a large “Kiss GSD Goodbye” poster in each lobby. Bring some lipstick and KISS THE POSTER! On, Sunday, October 7th, join us in support with a program-wide GREEN OUT (Green is the color for GSD Awareness Week). We will take pictures of each team holding the “Kiss GSD Goodbye” poster at the end of practices on October 7th!

Show Out Sunday- Reminder

Show Out Sunday is an internal measure for all teams at World Elite. It is one of the Wonders of the World in our coaching Curriculum. On Sunday, September 30th, all teams will perform a “sharp through” or “performance through” of their routines. Every team performs with the same goals: perfect formations, transitions, choreography and performance. WE will invite parents out to the floors to watch at each of the designated times! Reminder- is it a Black Out Theme.
