HarborChase of Shorewood Senior Living A Case Study

Senior living design has come along way since the 90's. Harbor Retirement Associates (HRA) knew that CM Hospitality Carpets had the construction and design savvy intuitiveness to tackle their new Shorewood, WI (near Milwaukee) location's carpet design concepts. This state-of-the-art 113,542 square feet facility was the first property built in Wisconsin as HRA reached to expand their mid-west market.

"The design was inspired by natural elements, like water ripples, wood bark, tree rings - but they wanted it really sophisticated with blending textures and colors." says carpet designer, Laura Gibson.
Calming rustic charm...
Designers chose coordinating large scale and smaller scale CYP (Computer Yarn Placement) construction patterns for their large dining hall and more intimate formal dining.

In November 2014, the first designs and samples were developed using CYP (also knowns as Tapistron) constructions to showcase serence large scale patterns. Eppstein Uhen Architects were given the task to follow HRA's hospitality-based service model with focus on 3 primary components - wellness, choice, and technology. HRA is making strides to create a person-centered care facility to provide residents with living options including apartment style assisted living and memory care specific program.

The uses of cooler purple-blues and contrasting golden tans reflect the beautiful stone in the main foyer/entrance area. Adding a modern twist to traditional floral designers chose a starburst style dasy pattern for the dining hall. Coordinating smaller triangular trellis pattern were used to adorn the corridors, smaller public seating areas and formal dining rooms. Modern with a touch of rustic chic is the overall theme that is both calming and easy to take in visually.
