Pool AFC 2 v 1 Wetherby Athletic West Yorkshire Premier League

Two highly contentious moments left Wetherby’s manager, fans and players alike all seething as Pool came from behind to record a very fortuitous win in this West Yorkshire Premier League clash!

It also took some great defending and interventions to stop Pool AFC from taking the lead as both teams battled it out.

The second half saw Pool pressure from the kick-off, although Wetherby sprang several counter attacks.

Under 18's player Alex Bairstow made his debut (along with goalkeeper Robbie Whone) and came close to scoring.

There was a strong suspicion of offside in the build up to Pool’s equaliser in the 78th minute. As Wetherby appealed for the flag, Pool levelled matters incensing the away contingent.

Wetherby tried to get the winning goal and Joe Dorkings came close on several occasions.

Things got even worse for Wetherby when the referee played six minutes of extra time after indicating four was the maximum and in the 96th minute Pool scored to steal all the points and leave Wetherby fuming and feeling robbed.
