Andrea Singley, Attorney in Gettysburg
Vice President, Board of Directors
Gettysburg is my hometown and I appreciate how unique it is for a town of its size. Because of tourism and Gettysburg College, we have resources available that other towns the size of ours simply do not, especially regarding the arts. GCT is such an asset not only for those who participate in shows or theatre camps, but also for people who live in the area and may not have the opportunity to see theatre elsewhere. It’s remarkable to have an affordable theatre experience so close by.
My favorite show at GCT was absolutely 1776. I love history and that particular musical has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. It was great to see it live on stage with members of the community, and I was humming along the entire time! My favorite annual show is a midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Show at Halloween, which is now a bit of a tradition for my husband and I. It’s a ton of fun, and it introduces people to the theatre who may not normally attend a show.
The community is involved in so many ways at GCT! First, it gives anyone in any age group a chance to perform, be a part of a show, and express themselves in a way that perhaps they normally wouldn’t. Even for those of us (like me) who don’t feel comfortable onstage, it’s a great way to be involved in the arts through the board and through behind-the-scenes volunteering.
I’m so happy to be on the board where I get to work with such a wonderful group of people. To look back and see how far the theatre has come in 10 years, I have no doubt that with Chad’s vision the next 10 years will be just as ambitious and just as productive! Congrats!
