A team of our Middle School students competed in the Dream It Do It PA What's So Cool About Manufacturing video contest, sponsored by the Chester County Economic Development Council (CCEDC).

With 13 schools participating, over 27,000 votes were cast. The awards ceremony was Tuesday, April 4th at Penn State Great Valley and the competition was fierce! Collegium's team of Middle School students won "Outstanding Creativity" - one of only seven awards presented. Congratulations to our dedicated, talented, and clearly creative Middle School student participants!

The following Middle School students participated in the project:

  • Mark Norris (Video Production Team Leader)
  • Ronald Lavender (Videographer)
  • Jacob Iseminger (Video Production Editor)
  • Madison Stewart (Team Leader/Interviewer)
  • Rachel Bromley (Audio Engineer)
  • Nathan Wholey (Videographer)

Members of the team visited CNC Manufacturing / MTI Dental, Inc. in Coatesville in November. During the visit, the students used GoPro video equipment to capture the manufacturing facility in action and conducted interviews with employees. Important Changes in Immunization Regulations

The PA Department of Health has released new school immunization regulations effective August 2017. The regulations are intended to ensure that children attending school in the Commonwealth are adequately protected against potential outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases. The updated guidelines are as follows:

  1. A child must have at least one dose of the following vaccines by the first day of school or risk exclusion (DTaP, Polio, Hep B, MMR, Varicella). This is true for all grades.
  2. If medically appropriate, the final dose of the series must be completed by the end of the first week of school or have the next dose scheduled and provide a medical certificate with the schedule of remaining doses.
  3. If additional doses are necessary, but not medically appropriate during the first school week, a medical certificate is required showing the schedule of remaining doses.
  4. For 7th Grade, the TDaP and Menactra vaccines are required by the first 2017-2018 school day.
  5. For 12th Grade, a second Menactra vaccine is required by the first 2017-2018 school day.
  6. For all grades: A 4th dose of Polio is required by the first 2017-2018 school day and must be after the 4th birthday. If dose #3 was given after the 4th birthday, the child is considered “covered”.
  7. Proof of all immunizations must originate from your healthcare provider.

As a reminder, the only exemptions to the school laws for immunizations are:

  • Medical reasons;
  • Religious beliefs; or
  • Philosophical/strong moral or ethical conviction.

For more information, please access the link below or contact your healthcare provider.

If you have questions, please email Mrs. Mellone or Mrs. K. Wilkins.

Grades 9-12 Spring Carnaval

Student Council and Spanish Honor Society are back with their second annual High School Spring Carnaval on April 21st from 7:00pm until 10:00pm!

On behalf of Student Council and Spanish Honor Society, we look forward to this illuminating event and hope to see many 9th-12th grade students attend!

Soles4Souls Shoe Collection Drive

Have some shoes lying around that you don’t use anymore? The National Honor Society will hold their Soles4souls Shoe Collection Drive from Tuesday, April 18th through Friday, April 28th. 515 Auditorium Improvements Needed

At the end of March, West Whiteland Township alerted us to a concern about our use of the 515 Auditorium. Once notified, Collegium worked with employees and student groups on an as needed, case-by-case basis, to make adjustments to their plans if needed. Originally, we were told we could continue to use the space for daily activities (rehearsals, etc.) if we made slight alterations.

However, shortly before Spring Break, the township advised us of additional and necessary modifications required immediately. Unfortunately, it appears we will be without the use of our 515 Auditorium for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year.

Our Director of Operations, Mr. Duffy, is now working directly with employees and student groups that originally requested to use our 515 Auditorium to find alternative locations for their events. Mr. Duffy spoke with our architect and plans are being drafted to start the modification process. Please be assured that we will resolve this situation as quickly as possible.

Student group advisors/directors will be in touch with families after their group activity relocation plans are finalized.

Rec Night for 3rd-6th Grades

Parent permission forms (below) are due Friday, April 28th along with the $5.00 participation fee. Please see the permission form for additional information and email Ms. Perrino if you have questions.

CCST Improv Club and Performance

Collegium Center Stage Theatre (CCST) is excited to announce its Second Annual Improv Club and Improv Performance this Spring.

Just like last year, we will be rehearsing and presenting a comedic performance made up right on the spot, similar to the hit show, Whose Line Is It Anyway. CCST is asking all interested middle and high students to complete the CCST Improv Club Interest Form (below). After April 18th, a rehearsal and performance schedule - along with permission forms - will be shared with those who have completed the form.

If you have questions, please email Mrs. Christman.
