Happy First Day of School!

Wow, what a day.

Today you were challenged to do something you have never done before, and we know it was not easy. We could not be more grateful for your kindness, patience and determination as you helped Red Clay schools start the 2020-21 school year strong.

It is inspiring to see the Red Clay community come together in so many new ways to support high-quality teaching and learning in this new online learning environment.

Thank you to all of the students, families, staff, community partners, IT professionals and countless others who worked behind the scenes to make today a success.

To prepare for the first day of school, we distributed over 13,000 Chromebooks, debuted the Red Clay Chromebook Fix-It Bus, introduced students and families to their teachers over Zoom, implemented a number of new health and safety protocols, and helped families pick up backpacks, class materials, school supplies and other resources for remote learning.

Staff celebrated the return to learning by showing off back-to-school Bitmojis, virtual classrooms and, of course, a whole lot of school spirit.

While the first day of school certainly looked a little different this year, that didn't keep families from celebrating one of their favorite back-to-school traditions: first day photos.

Dr. Jill Biden recently stopped by Evan G. Shortlidge Academy to see Shortlidge Wildcats preparing for online learning.

RED CLAY MEAL SERVICE RETURNS FOR 2020-21

Today marked the return of Red Clay's mobile meal service, which provides nutritious meals for children across the community. See the flyers above for dates, times and locations.
