A Miracle Birth The story of Hannah

Motherhood is a gift from God. Some women are ready and some women are not. There is no greater heartache than when a women decides she is ready to be a mother and finds out she is infertile. This is exactly what happen to Hannah (1 Samual 1- 2: 11).
Hannah's husband Elkanah had two wives. The first was Hannah and the second was Peninnah. Hannah could not bare children but Peninnah could.
Hannah felt that Elkanah loved Peninnah better than he loved her. In her heart she was jealous and hurt. "Why did God curse me? I just wanted a child to call my own so I can nurture him and raise him."
Every year Elkanah would take his family to his home town. So he can worship and make a sacrifice to God. Peninnah verbally and emotionally abused Hannah because she could not have children.
Hannah wouldn't take the abuse Peninnah spit at her anymore. Peninnah's tongue was like a dagger and she sharpened her teeth to shred Hannah anyway she could. These words cut deeply in Hannah and made her think if herself differently. So Elkanah went to Hannah and said, " Oh, Hannah, why are you crying? Why aren't you eating? And why are you so upset? Am I not of more worth to you than ten sons?"
So Hannah ate and left to the temple. There Hannah spilled her heart out to the Lord begging him to give her a son. " Oh God, if you can just turn your face upon me and see my affliction. Please remember your maidservant and never forget me. Then I will raise my son up to serve you. I will give him back to you for all the days of his life." (1 Samuel 1:11)
Then Eli the priest in the temple gazed upon the court yard he saw a women. As he watched her he saw her lips move but no sound. She moved oddly and it seemed as if she was drunk. Eli rushed out to her and said," You're drunk!" Hannah looked at him and said, "I'm not drunk, I came here to pray to the Lord for a son." So Eli blessed her and promised that she would bare a son.
Hannah went back to her husband and told him the good news. She also promised that when she gives birth she would raise him in the way of the Lord and give him back to the temple from which he came.
Almost a year later Hannah convinced a son and fulfilled the promise she had made.
