Will breakfast club and after school club provision be in place from the 01st June?

We will not be able to provide Breakfast or After School Clubs from the 01st of June. The Government advice is about limiting the amount of contact between different groups of children therefore it would not be feasible at this point for us to provide any form of wrap around care.

Will work still be set for the EYFS, Year 1 & 6 children not attending school?

The Government are strongly encouraging children and young people in the eligible year groups and priority groups (such as children of critical workers) to attend. If your child is shielding because they, or someone in your household are classed as “extremely critically vulnerable”, work will be provided for them.

I have concerns about drop off and pick up procedure.

It is possible that we will make changes to the start and finish times for children and we will be introducing processes for drop-off and collection times to keep children and families safe. These start and finish times will be clearly communicated to parents and carers alongside any other new arrangements.

I have concerns about children not being able to play with children at playtimes and lunchtimes.

We know that, unlike older children and adults, early years and primary age children cannot be expected to remain 2 metres apart from each other and staff. In deciding to bring more children back to early years and schools, the Government have taken this into account. It is still important to reduce contact between people as much as possible, and we can achieve that and reduce transmission risk by ensuring children, young people and staff where possible, only mix in a small, consistent group and that small group stays away from other people and groups.

Will children be spoken to in detail about social distancing?

We appreciate that children will have a more challenging time understanding the recommendation of social distancing and we will talk to children in age appropriate ways to try and help them to understand.

Will parents be fined if they don't send their children to school June 1st?

Parents will not be penalised if their child does not attend school.

Will friends be together to ease anxiety?

We have been tasked by the Government to only mix in a small, consistent group and that small group stays away from other people and groups. Wherever possible we will consider friendship groups within these small mixes.

What if I have children in different year groups with different drop off times?

Start and finish times will be clearly communicated to parents and carers alongside any other new arrangements. If you do have any overlap with these, please contact School and we can discuss them with you.

Can my children play together at lunch times even if they are in different year groups?

Lunchtimes will be with the children within their small, consistent group only.

How will lunchtimes work?

Schools should provide meals for all children in school, and meals should be available free of charge where pupils meet the free school meal (FSM) eligibility criteria. To ensure food is available for pupils who attend, educational settings are expected to reopen their kitchens and ensure that meals are able to be prepared and served safely. We will be managing this by having staggered lunchtimes for children and also looking at options for where meals can be served through school to minimise contact.

Can my child wear their own PPE?

Wearing a face covering or face mask in schools or other education settings is not recommended

Will there be sanitising gel in all classrooms?

We will be implementing the cleaning hands more often than usual - washing hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with running water and soap, and wherever possible we will be providing hand sanitisers within classrooms.

Will school test my child?

When a child, young person or staff member develops symptoms compatible with coronavirus, they should be sent home and advised to self-isolate for 7 days. Their fellow household members should self-isolate for 14 days. All staff and students who are attending an education or childcare setting will have access to a test if they display symptoms of coronavirus, and are encouraged to get tested in this scenario.

Why are some schools using thermometers to see if a child can come in?

Some schools may use a thermometer as one of the symptoms of Coronavirus is a high temperature.

Will the Year 6 children do SATS when they come back in?

Primary assessments, including assessment against the early learning goals that form the Early Years Foundation Stage profile, SATs, and exams, including GCSEs, AS levels and A levels, will NOT go ahead this summer. The exam regulator, Ofqual, and exam boards will work with teachers and other educational staff to provide grades to students whose exams have been cancelled this summer.

Where will my child be based and which staff will be caring for them?

Wherever possible we are trying to ensure that staff that are familiar with your child are in their small, consistent group. We are taking measures that staff across school will remain in these groups. We will be sharing with you the details nearer the time in relation to the classroom that your child will be in.
