Economy

Many common jobs in the Middle colonies are: shipping stuff to England, trading, farming, mining, lumbering, being a sailor, trapping beavers, and being a merchant.

Why The Middle Colonies Were Founded

Each colony of the Middle Colonies were founded for different reasons. New Amsterdam was land claimed by Henry Hudson. Later it was split into three pieces, one of those were made into New Jersey. Pennsylvania was a place made for the Quakers to live safely without being persecuted by the Church of England. Delaware was founded because originally Delaware was like a little tail on Pennsylvania, so they just separated it and made it a new place called Delaware.

Geography

many minerals (like iron and copper), cold winters, hot, humid summers, rich soil, and forests. The land was very forested and had many valleys. It also had many rivers and deep harbors.

Fun fact! The middle Colonies actually produced a lot of wheat, corn, bark, beef, and other yummy trade goods. People also made a lot of money from farming, so if you're a good farmer you better come visit!
