A Message from the Key 3
As I make my exit as the President of the Michigan Crossroads Council, I can’t withhold my excitement about the future of Scouting in Michigan. Our program is reaching more youth. Our camps are steadily improving. We are becoming more financially sound, better trained and interconnected. We share common goals. We are developing lasting relationships. We are starting to hit our marks. We have become a powerful team!
Frankly, when we formed into the MCC, I was unsure about whether we could form as a team that could successfully cover a territory so large as our lower peninsula. I should know better than to question the ability and resolve of Scouters! It is clear that after committing to better communication, vibrant deliberation, a clear and common vision, and long hours of implementation and follow through, all geographical and organizational parts of this council are coming together with common understanding, balance and effort. It is difficult to express how incredibly privileged I feel to have been part of this transformation.
We are blessed to have an exceptional leader, Brad Arbuckle, as our next President. Brad has provided our council expert legal services since MCC’s formation. He has provided me savvy advice. There is no harder worker; no more committed volunteer. Along with our Scout Executive Don Shepard, and our Commissioner Mike Weber, our team is in extremely good hands.
There remains much work to do. More youth to serve. More marks to hit. So as we move forward, you must remain motivated to do more, to be more, and to serve more. I know I am. Serving this council, these professionals, our youth, has been on of the most valuable experiences and privileges I’ve ever had. Thank you, friends, for this opportunity. Thank you for your inspiration, support and confidence. Now let’s get out there and continue to leave our mark!
Yours in scouting,
Raymond Davis, President
