MEDIUM OF ART THE ART

Zandvoort: a mixed media on etched magnesium

Frank Stella is the American artist of the work Zandvoort. I found this piece to be intriguing because it looked like he layered the pieces of material, magnesium, on top of one another after he added the color to each unique piece. He is an abstract artist, creating artwork to make people feel emotion. Looking at this piece, I felt a positive energy, like it was just emitting energy. Looking at it, it's a lot and somewhat overwhelming. Normally, I dislike abstract art, but this piece communicated to me that is was more than just a canvas with some random color; I felt like the artist spent time thinking of what he wanted to convey with this piece.

DESIGN OF THE MUSEUM

The layout of the museum was clearly thought about to provide the museum goers a nice, emotion filled experience. The part of the museum that stuck out to me was the Zen Garden.

I found this exhibit appealing because it was immediately relaxing. The sound of the water, the cool weather, the color of the nature; everything was serene. This exhibit was a part of the Asian Culture wing of the museum. The architecture and choice of flowers definitely made it feel like we were somewhere in Asia. The Zen Garden was beautiful.

ART AND CORE VALUES

This piece of art work makes me think about all the different cultures we have and how lucky we are to have knowledge about it. It is made from cotton and resembles a life-size person. I feel a desire for more knowledge looking at this piece of art. I desire to know more about the culture and why the artist makes these figures. The colors in this piece make me believe more deeply that the African culture was lively and vibrant. This gives me a sense of happiness because when I think of African culture, everyone is so happy and their cares are small.

ART AND THE GOOD LIFE

This art piece above demonstrates how simple life can be. It captures sharing the good life, because it is just a man and his dog. When I saw this piece of art, I immediately thought that this represented the good life. The scenery is the gulf coast, there is no one else in sight, life is so simple for that man and his dog. This captures everything the good life should be, appreciating what life has to offer. I appreciate this piece because it's simplicity brings to life what is important, and that is cherishing the life we are blessed with.
