Dates for the Diary

Attendance

We have had a few children off this week with bugs and chicken pox, we hope they are feeling better soon.

Christmas Fair

Please note the School’s Christmas Fair will take place on Saturday 30 November, 10.00-12.00 noon.

There will be a non-uniform day on Friday 29 November for the whole school. This is also Christmas Craft Day, so please ensure that children wear appropriate clothing. As a 'fine' for coming in non-uniform we are asking the children to donate a gift or prize. Information about gifts was texted to you last week.

The Friends of Avondale will be hosting an "Avondale Christmas Bake Off" this year. It is free to enter but any cake/s or biscuits you enter will be donated to the stall to sell at the Fair. Ideally, please can the cakes be individual buns and/or biscuits as these are easier to sell! Entries must be brought into school on Friday 29 November. The cakes will be judged by the Friends of Avondale prior to the Fair starting and the winners announced at the end of the Fair. Who will be the Great Avondale Baker?

Children in Need

Thank you to parents/family members of Year 4 children - £150 was raised last Friday from our cake sale and all monies will go to Children in Need.

Flu Vaccinations

If you didn’t previously consent to your child having a flu vaccination but would now like to do so, please contact the office for a form. Nurses will be back in school in the next few weeks and we will let you know the exact date as soon as we know. If you previously consented to your child having their vaccine but they were absent on the day, please contact the Immunisation Team on: 0333 3583397 (Option 5: East Lancs/Bwd Imms Team or Option 6: Central Lancashire Imms Team) if you have taken them to your GP Surgery to have their vaccine.

Breakfast & After School Club

Bookings for both Clubs for the period January to Easter are now open on School Money. To book sessions, please log into your account and:

A paper booking form is available via the Clubs and/or the office if you prefer. If you need any help please contact school.

Consultation on Admissions arrangements

Statutory consultation on proposed admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled primary schools for 2021/2022

At least every 7 years, Admission Authorities must consult on their admission arrangements; even if there have been no changes during that period.

When changes are proposed to admission arrangements, all Admission Authorities must consult on their admission arrangements that will apply to admission applications for the following school year.

Blackburn with Darwen Authority would like your views on a number of proposed changes to the admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled primary schools for 2021/2022.

The consultation period is open until 20 December 2019. Please see the school website under Admissions for more information.

Book Tokens

The school has registered for The Sun’s free books for schools campaign. Thank you to the parents who brought it to our attention. We need to collect 3500 tokens to receive £600 worth of free books. Tokens come out in The Sun newspaper daily starting from tomorrow - Saturday 23rd November. Please collect and send these in to us!

Girls Football

Tuesday 19 November - On a very cold night at St. Bede's, our girls' football team played 5 matches in a tournament against 8 other schools. Unfortunately, we didn't gain any wins but not through a lack of trying. Thanks to a team effort of Mrs Mears, Mr Clegg and Mrs Taylor.

Thursday 21 November - The girls' football team played their third week of matches at Soccerdome. They had 2 defeats but 1 win against St. Paul's (5-0). Only 2 more weeks to go until the end of the tournament. Thanks for the constant support of parents/grandparents who come to support us each week.

Cards

Whilst it’s great for children to have a collection, please may we request that Pokemon cards aren’t brought into school. Problems, as you can imagine, arise when our younger children swap cards and then want to swap back. So, to avoid fall outs please keep cards at home.

Thanks for Reading
