Story Arts Centre Turns 25
On February 13, the Story Arts Centre celebrated its 25th anniversary. The momentous event offered students, faculty and staff the chance to reflect on the school’s rich history, as well as what’s to come.
Speeches from Centennial College’s President and CEO, Dr. Craig Stephenson, Vice President, Academic and Chief Learning Officer, Dr. Marilyn Herie, and the Dean of the School of Communications, Media, Arts and Design, Nate Horowitz, offered important insights into the school’s meaningful impact on storytelling over the years.
The entire event was truly a celebration and being able to honour 25 years together, collectively, was a true testament to the connection we have with each other in this school.

She started with a degree in music from York University and then moved to Spain where she graduated from the Berklee College of Music with her Master's Degree. However, after teaching music for a few years, she knew she wanted something more, and this is what led her to the Sports Journalism program at Centennial College.

Pop-up Art Show | The FASSIE Express
Recognizing an opportunity when they see one, the Fine Arts community at the Story Arts Centre came together to fill a void in the Corridor Gallery schedule. After a late cancellation, the Corridor Gallery was going to sit empty for most of January until our artists sprung into action and quickly put a show together. Participants submitted whatever they wanted and as much as they wanted as long as there was room. What we got was The FASSIE Express. Check out some of the work below.

Story Arts Centre Tackles Food Insecurity
The School of Communications, Media, Arts, and Design along with the Centennial College Student Association (CCSAI) have launched a Food Drive to help tackle the issue of food insecurity on campus.
A survey that was conducted as part of a research paper shows that many students from Centennial, including the Story Arts Centre, are struggling to access food on a regular basis.
Preeti Sharma, Operations and Student Retention Manager, who is helping to organize the food drive said, “We think the food drive is necessary. This issue is much bigger and we are a bit late in the game so we don’t want to wait anymore and want to start right away.”
A committee of representatives from the CCSAI, faculty, students, administration, staff, and advising have come together to implement the food drive and to discuss the issues surrounding food insecurity and other possible solutions that can be put in place.
