From the Homestead Williston Northampton School Alumni Newsletter

What a year it has been!

As underclassmen prepare to leave campus this week and the Class of 2021 prepares for commencement on Saturday, we can't help but reflect on the grace, kindness and resilience shown by this special community. And while, as alumni, you were not here with us in person, we appreciated all the ways you showed up (on Zoom) to host presentations in your areas of expertise, to check in with one another as the months passed, and to stay connected to what was happening here on campus.

As the school year draws to a close, we look forward to celebrating you in a special way with a VIRTUAL REUNION 2021 that is open to everyone! We will be pausing other alumni programming for the rest of the summer, so we encourage you to check out the events on tap for June 7 - 11. The schedule is live online, and we look forward to closing out this school year as we celebrate milestone reunions of the 1s and 6s!

Spotlight on: Suzanne Snyder Johnson '80

Johnson cherishes the sailing trips she provides free of charge to cancer patients through her nonprofit, Sail Beyond Cancer. Operating from two locations—Burlington, Vermont, where Johnson lives, and Salem, Massachusetts—the organization provides three-hour excursions to anyone with cancer, their family, and friends. Read more about how Johnson united her love of sailing and her care for those battling cancer.

Spotlight on: Betsy Lewis '12

“Being a Willistonian has impacted how I’ve moved forward with my life and career.”

Betsy Lewis’ metal work suggests the organic: a four-chambered heart, a slim length of spine, a silver wishbone wrapped in a silver strand. The pieces are arresting because they seem familiar, but differ enough from their muses to offer a brief surprise and an invitation to look closer. While the pandemic meant cancellation of her first solo show, we are eager to see what the future holds for this talented artist. Learn more about Betsy's work and chcek out her studio and Instagram to view her latest works.
