Although the Redlegs started the match in control Glenelg showed they were very much up for the fight only within one-point at quarter time.

The second quarter saw a heavy down pour of rain, which forced both sides into a real territory battle. Promising youngster Cole Gerloff started the second quarter well booting the first two majors of the quarter to extend Norwood’s lead to 12-points.

Despite the conditions both sides weren’t able to build any scoreboard pressure with the wind playing a major factor when kicking for goal. Glenelg however found a goal midway through the term as Terry Milera converted a classy set shot from 45-metres out. The Redlegs however, responded as ever reliable ruckman Sam Baulderstone kicked truly from 50 metres to hand Norwood a 15 point lead heading into the main break.

After the break Ed Smart gave the Redlegs the perfect start, after successfully converting a 25-metre penalty from directly in front. Although the Bays were able to reply instantly, Norwood piled on three majors to claim a little bit of breathing space heading into the final quarter.

In a rather scrappy final term, both sides didn’t take their foot off the gas with plenty of tackles still applied amongst contested ball. With the rain re-appearing only seven scoring shots were recorded with Norwood kicking two goals through Cameron Shenton and Peter Bampton.

Despite Glenelg kicking the final goals of the quarter, Norwood managed to run out 32-point winners.

It was a gutsy team effort by the Redlegs who finished plus 15 in tackles, led by former St Ignatius midfielder Will Abbott who claimed a game high 13 while Cole Gerloff had 11 of his own.

The Redlegs now have a week off and will reset as they head to Alberton Oval in Round 12 to face the Port Adelaide Magpies.
