2016 Annual Report A Home for the Arts in Crested Butte

As a home for arts and culture, Center for the Arts offers engaging opportunities and educational experiences to enrich and expand the life of our community.

Center for the Arts impacts the community with programs and partnerships in music, visual arts, children’s education programs, dance, culinary events and film.

In 2016, The Center welcomed 47,209 people through 1,082 separate events. This represents a 17.5% increase in patron attendance in one year!

The Center’s programs and performances are estimated to contribute over $3 million to the local economy every year. The Center attracts patrons to the community who spend money directly on arts related activities, shop at local businesses, eat at local restaurants and stay on hotels.

Center for the Arts provided an affordable venue for 56 community organizations including Matchstick Productions, the Crested Butte School of Dance and several school performances through the Crested Butte Community School Enrichment Program.

Twenty board members tirelessly give their time and talents to provide leadership and vision to the Center for the Arts.

Volunteers

102 volunteers donated over 3,000 hours to the Center assisting at fundraising events and performing administrative functions for Center events!

The Center successfully launched the Building in the heARTS campaign last summer resulting in contributions and pledges over $3 million thanks to a generous challenge grant. $8 million has been raised to date towards our project goal of $12.6 million. 257 donors representing diverse members of the community have donated to the new Center. We are currently working on a plan to break ground this May 2017.
