Saint James School Alumni Weekend April 26, 27 & 28, 2019

We were thrilled to welcome so many Saint James School alumni back to campus April 26-28 for Alumni Weekend 2019. Alumni and their families enjoyed many special events and activities throughout the weekend as they reconnected with the school and each other.

Friday evening we honored the members of the Class of 1969 as they celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Half Century Club reception.

On Saturday, we officially launched the public phase of our capital campaign, Make A Difference. To date, we have raised more than $22 million towards our $35 million goal, and we were excited to show off some of the projects underway.

Alumni enjoyed tours of our new MIT-certified FAB Lab, led by Dr. Ian Brauner and several students. They learned about the equipment in the FAB Lab, including a laser cutter, 3D printers, and a ShopBot milling machine.

The afternoon brought a delicious BBQ lunch, ice cream from Antietam Dairy, cheering on the Saints athletic teams, a Paint n' Sip class, plus a Touch-a-Truck event and other fun activities for kids.

A highlight of the day for many was taking a hard hat tour of the Pohanka Fine Arts Center, currently under construction behind Claggett Hall. Linda Stowe (Fine Arts Chair) and Scott Bowen (MSB Architects) led alumni through the structure and explained how the state-of-the-art center will enhance the arts at Saint James.

Alumni spent the evening with their classmates, friends, and faculty at the Alumni Dinner. They enjoyed a delicious meal and then honored our award recipients. Mr. Robert Grab was selected by the Alumni Council as the recipient of the Kerfoot Distinguished Faculty Award. Scott Geare '66 was announced as the Alumni Award recipient. Heartfelt speeches were offered for each of the recipients.

The weekend was capped off with a Eucharist of Thanksgiving on Sunday followed by brunch. We thank everyone who joined us to celebrate this special weekend. Save the date for Alumni Weekend 2020 on April 24-26!
