Our Donor Impact Report is something we always look forward to sharing with our community and, even with everything going on in the world right now, this year is no exception. In fact, taking the time to reflect and share "good news" is something we appreciate now more than ever.

In many ways, our Donor Impact Report is the school’s highlight reel. It’s a look back at all the ways we were able to enhance the student experience over the past academic year to extend their learning and development well beyond the in-person or online classroom. And more than that, it is an opportunity for us to share with you how your generous support of The York School Fund impacts our students and faculty.

Your support has made a positive and meaningful impact on our ability to deliver transformative experiences for our students that build their confidence, challenge their comfort zone, foster a sense of pride in their community, support their overall well-being and bolster their learning. This, in turn, allows our students to stretch their thinking, explore new things and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

THE JUNIOR SCHOOL

Annual donations have enhanced the experience for our JK to Grade 5 students as it pertains to the IB Primary Years Programme, supporting the holistic student experience central to the culture and philosophy at the Junior School.

The Head’s Initiative (or area of greatest need) allows our Head of School and Leadership Team to “dream big” for The York School. Your gift supports projects deemed high priority for the advancement of the school’s strategic goals. This includes long-term projects or exciting opportunities for our students as they happen.

The York School prides itself on pushing boundaries by facilitating learning opportunities outside of traditional classrooms for our students. Your gift enables us to offer alternative formats and state-of-the-art resources as well as hands-on experiences to bring theory into practice.

SUSTAINABILITY

We believe that the long-term success of the York School requires a combination of cultural and financial sustainability rooted in the alignment of what we promise, what we deliver, and the aspirations of our community members. Funds directed to this initiative help us strengthen our future through capital improvements to our physical campuses, investment in technologies and professional development, and provisions for environmental stewardship.

As an urban campus, we are reminded of the environmental pressures cities place on our natural environment every day. The interconnectivity of the IB programme allows students to study the issues around topics such as water use, mobility, resource extraction and the management of waste, as well as the positive health effects our ravines, parklands and natural spaces provide.

Solutions and opportunities to address these challenges require an innovative, creative and collaborative approach.

With the learning not only limited to the classroom, The York School has taken a number of steps to green our two campuses with demonstrable results. Water bottle filling stations, renewable and energy efficiency initiatives are just a few examples of how The York School is working towards addressing global sustainability issues at home.
