Mary Loporcaro and Dr. Lauren Vicker with colleagues from the communication/journalism department.

In the 1962, Loporcaro became the first woman student at Fisher when, as a student at Nazareth College, she enrolled in an Italian class.

In 1977 she joined the Fisher faculty, one of just eight women teaching fulltime.

Dr. Sharon Delmendo, left, was the first female Fisher faculty member to win a Fulbright Scholarship. The late Dr. Jean Maley, right, was one of the longest-serving female faculty.
